Taalta Alku

A conceptual noun phrase describing the act of recognising, appreciating, benefiting from, or preserving the value of something while withholding approval of the person, group, ideology, institution, or circumstances responsible for its origin.

Pronounced: TAHL-tah AHL-koo. IPA: /ˈtɑːl.tɑː ˈɑːl.kuː/

Example: The Autobahn example illustrates Taalta Alku: recognising the value of infrastructure while rejecting the ideology associated with parts of its development.

Example: Some viewers practise Taalta Alku when they recognise the artistic value of a film while condemning the actions of the filmmaker.
