I like photos of screens because it's more than just a 'screenshot'. It's what the player really sees. I tend to prefer 2D games for this style & for me it adds this cool 3D-like physical perspective to a 2D world.
After attending an art gallery in SW3 I rushed home full of ideas & energy and spent the next few hours taking photos of screens. It was an idea that I'd had for a while. These 3 are my favourite from that session.
I saw someone do this on Gran Turismo 3 & wanted to try my hands at it. I was just trying it out here in this video. I would do things a bit differently on my next attempt.
This is from the game Centipede: Recharged by Atari on the Nintendo Switch. These are some of my favorites due to the way it glows & is slightly distorted, rather than just being a plain screenshot. Plain screenshots are cool too, but I prefer this effect.
Back in the day around the year 2000 I had the OG model of the Digimon Tamagotchi by Bandai. They were re-released a few years ago & so I had to pick one up. They're so cute & fun.
Look at them all snuggled up like that. This particular model has some updates over the OGs. It allows you to have more than 1 Digimon on the go at the same time.
I named it FUFU to be silly. The character limit is only 4 but I also had a PC named FUFU years ago.
This monitor is in TATE mode to play pinball. I actually prefer video game pinball over real pinball for various reasons. This particular game, Medieval Madness is great, I highly recommend it. My wife actually holds some decent global leaderboard rankings for this table.
These are from the game ESP Ra.De. Psi on Nintendo Switch shown on an LCD monitor. It's quite popular in the shmup & retro games community to take photos of screens close up like this. Usually it would be on a CRT TV however & the close ups would be to enhance the scan line visibility.
More Gran Turismo goodness.
A shot from Animal Well. This photo was originally taken as it contains a clue for later on but looking back on my photos I really like the aesthetic.
Home gym in Terraria.
Similar to the Animal Well shot. I took this originally to help solve something but looking back I enjoy how it looks. I have lots of Chess games. These are games where it uses the rules of chess but is not played as a regular chess game.
These are just some random shots. I have more like this to come.
